I'm Ninah, an Indigenous journalist and writer based in Toronto. My work moves between investigations, Indigenous affairs, culture and criticism, usually following the stories and people I can’t stop thinking about.
I also write literary fiction and screenplays for television and film, with a soft spot for complicated people, identity, relationships and humour.
Basically, I like stories in all their forms: the ones I have to prove are true and the ones I’m allowed to make up.

When I'm not writing for the IJF, I’m either reading or watching something.
Growing up in Toronto, I often found an escape in worlds of pretend, on screens and pages alike. These days, my interests range from internet culture and girlhood to bad behaviour, and horror.
You can usually find me in a café on my fifth cup of coffee or out for dinner with my friends.
I’m drawn to journalism that starts conversations and creative projects that stops them.
